Kana (The Hen), 2013.
270 x 420 mm. Raku clay, chicken wire, steel bar, iron board.
Hens were my good friends when I was a kid. I formed this sculpture of a hen named Friday by using photos as a model. I used to have Friday in my arms and I utilized this muscle memory to find the right size and shape for the sculpture. I put it to the cage, to open a conversation about how limited living space the hens have in a battery cage henhouse.
